Parts eCommerce on Odoo — built for MMY-driven industries

If you sell parts that customers buy by Make, Model, and Year — cars, trucks, motorcycles, aircraft, boats, RVs, industrial equipment — vanilla Odoo doesn't ship with what you actually need. We fix that.

ShowMyPart API + Odoo + Parts eCommerce Theme + B2B Customer Portal + MMY fitment logic — an integrated solution delivered by Aktiv Software, an Odoo Implementation Partner since 2014 and the team behind AktivCPQ.

Why Odoo alone doesn't work for parts businesses

Odoo is a strong ERP and eCommerce platform. It handles inventory, purchasing, accounting, and CRM well out of the box. But it wasn't designed for the specific problems that parts businesses face every day:

Five pieces that make Odoo work for parts

An automotive parts (or aircraft, or marine, or RV parts) business on Odoo needs more than just the base ERP. Our implementations typically combine five components, all running on a single Odoo instance:

1. ShowMyPart API integration

ShowMyPart provides the industry-standard fitment data — millions of vehicle-to-part mappings maintained by the API provider. We integrate ShowMyPart into your Odoo instance so every product page automatically knows which vehicles it fits, and every vehicle lookup automatically knows which products apply. No manual data maintenance.

2. Odoo as the operating platform

Everything else — inventory, purchasing, accounting, CRM, warehousing, invoicing — runs natively on Odoo. That's the whole point of the integrated approach: one system for the entire operation, not five systems patched together. If you're new to Odoo, we cover the full implementation. If you're already on Odoo, we add the parts layer on top of what you have.

3. Parts eCommerce theme

A storefront theme built specifically for parts businesses — the Make/Model/Year selector front and center, category filtering that respects fitment, product pages showing compatible vehicles, cross-sell and up-sell logic tuned for parts (matching brake pads to rotors, matching filters to service intervals). Not a generic eCommerce theme customized after the fact.

4. B2B customer portal

Trade customers — jobbers, workshops, fleet operators, resellers — don't shop like consumers. They need saved vehicle garages, tiered pricing that reflects their account level, credit terms visible at checkout, quick reorder from history, quote-to-order workflow, and often multi-user accounts (a workshop owner plus their service writers). We build the portal to reflect how your trade customers actually operate.

5. MMY (Make/Model/Year) logic layer

The connective tissue between everything else. MMY logic determines which parts show up on which searches, which cross-sells trigger for which vehicles, which kits are valid for which builds, which shipping restrictions apply. This is the layer that turns "Odoo with parts data" into "an Odoo system that thinks about vehicles the way your customers do."

Optional: CPQ for custom fabrication. For businesses that also do custom builds — performance fabrication shops, hot rod builders, custom RV outfitters — we can layer AktivCPQ on top of the parts platform. This handles configuration for made-to-order products alongside the catalog side of the business. Same Odoo instance, same database. Ask us about it if it fits your model.

Who this is for

"MMY-driven industries" is broader than most people assume. It's any industry where the buyer identifies compatibility by Make, Model, and Year (or model number, or serial range). Our implementations serve five main customer types:

Parts manufacturers

Companies that make the parts and sell them through wholesale channels or direct. Need catalog authoring, ACES/PIES export for distributor partners, brand-level catalog management, and direct-to-workshop or DTC storefronts.

Wholesalers & distributors

Businesses buying from manufacturers and selling to retailers, workshops, or fleets. Need multi-vendor catalog aggregation, EDI-ready order flow, tiered pricing, warehouse operations, and freight rules that reflect real distribution economics.

Retailers with B2B trade customers

Parts retailers who serve walk-in consumers but also have trade accounts (workshops, mechanics, fleet operators). Need dual pricing structures, MAP compliance, saved vehicle garages, and account-based checkout for trade buyers.

Fabrication & custom build shops

Performance parts fabricators, hot rod builders, custom van and RV outfitters. Sell both catalog parts and custom builds. Need project management alongside eCommerce, and often benefit from a CPQ configurator for the custom side.

Non-automotive MMY industries

Aircraft parts, marine, RV, powersports, industrial equipment — anywhere buyers select by make and model. The technical stack is largely the same. The compliance and data source layer differs by industry. We adapt accordingly.

Why work with Aktiv Software on this

There are a few groups doing parts eCommerce on Odoo. Here's what's different about working with us:

Odoo depth, first

Aktiv Software has been an Odoo Implementation Partner since 2014 across dozens of industries. The parts business runs on top of a full Odoo implementation, and getting the base implementation right — accounting, inventory, procurement, warehousing — matters as much as the fitment layer. We've done this at scale.

Global delivery presence

Teams in the US, India, and Kenya. Time zone coverage for US and European customers with cost efficiency you can't replicate with a single-region shop. Support windows that actually cover business hours where your customers are.

Custom builds handled natively

If your business is only catalog parts, we don't push CPQ. But if you also do custom fabrication, performance builds, or configured kits, our AktivCPQ product layers cleanly onto the parts platform. One Odoo instance handles both — you don't need a separate configurator tool.

Quickstart implementation methodology

Most standard-scope implementations go live in roughly 8 weeks using our Quickstart approach. Complex builds — multi-warehouse, EDI integrations, deep custom fitment logic — run 12 to 16 weeks. The bottleneck is almost never the software; it's how cleanly your existing catalog and pricing data is organized.

What we don't do (being honest)

A few things worth naming so you can evaluate fit accurately:
